TrueLocal Offering Local Search Content Syndication to Publishers
By Loren Baker, Editor | December 4, 2006
Tomorrow TrueLocal, the local search engine, will be launching their XML services which will allow publishers to syndicate TrueLocal search results to their sites, blogs, or local news publications. TrueLocal says that by using their “ground to web” patent pending search technology, TrueLocal.com is able to find brick and mortar businesses in local communities and give them a web presence.
The XML feed will allow publishers to show TrueLocal search results on their webpage without technical hassles. The feeds will also allow publishers to create other local content around the search results creating more advertising and revenue opportunities. The feeds are available for all zip and postal codes across the US and Canada.
“Offering our local results to web publishers and content owners will allow these sites to truly become one stop sources for local information,” states Jake Baillie, President of TrueLocal. “We know that as local information becomes more important to local newspaper, TV and tourist websites, having our industry leading local business and services results will help these sites become the best place for all local content.”
It will be exciting to see which major publishers they line up in terms of local news and TV sites. As far as local blogging goes, TrueLocal’s XML syndication could be a Godsend for bloggers hoping to add more juice to their localized content. I publish a small local blog dubbed Kent Island News, Bill Slawski publishes Newarking (for Newark , DE) and I talked about Chicago’s Gaper’s Block yesterday. I’m sure all kinds of local publishers will be able to benefit from the revenue sharing opps from TrueLocal and their advertising.
We’ll be stopping by TrueLocal’s booth #413 at SES Chicago tomorrow to see their content syndication in action.
