Google Finance Changes, New Features
Google Finance has added some major changes, especially to its home page, which result in a new chocked full of information financial hub which may be perfect for daily traders and major investors, but a little too busy for basic users.
Like the former Google Finance, Google News takes center stage as news on specific public companies updates automatically every 5 minutes or so (as does the Market Summary). They have also added a sector summary and top movers, showing the movers and shakers of the day.
Internal company pages still center around stock quote history, Google News indexed stories, blogs and relevant Google Groups.
So, why is Google Finance making these changes?
Om Malik adds:
“It has failed to crack the top twenty financial destinations, as calculated by both Comscore and Nielsen Net Ratings. Its contribution to the overall Google traffic is minuscule, as data from HitWise reveals. Interestingly the shuttering Google Answers and Google Finance are still in the same ballpark, which makes us feel that the next upgrade is critical.”
