Viewsonic releases VX2055, VX2255 webcam-integrated LCDs
By Conrad Quilty-Harper | January 9, 2007
Alongside some larger PC and HDTV LCDs, Viewsonic today released a range of 55-series LCDs, specifically the VX2255wmh/b and the VX2055wmh/b. If you know gadget designations, you’ll already have guessed that these are 20- and 22-inch panels: what you can’t tell from the numbers is that each display features an integrated 1.3-megapixel camera and a microphones. We grabbed a shot of the VX2255 at Viewsonic’s stand a few hours back and if you’ll take a look, you’ll see that it has a similar setup to a MacBook’s iSight and microphone configuration. Other than pre-empting any potential Apple Cinema Display updates that may / may not appear shortly, the 55s both have 1680 x 1050 resolutions, a new ergonomic base with 360 degree swivel, 160 degree vertical / horizontal viewing angles, 300 cd/m2 brightness, 1000:1 contrast ratios, and the most basic of connection standards: VGA and DVI. No word on pricing or availability yet, although as always we’d like assume that “low” and “soon” will be revealed to be the case.
