The Rhubarb Compendium
By Lockergnome | February 6, 2007
Growing up, I was always told to eat my vegetables. Sometimes I did, and sometimes I didn’t. But that’s another story. There were such a wide variety of them that I had my favorite. Today’s Warped site is one that salutes one of the most understood vegetables, since it has been used in a wide variety of ways.
The site we are visiting is The Rhubarb Compendium. This site has been around saluting this wonderful plant since 1994 (about the time the Internet took off). It has been available to anyone interested in gaining an understanding and appreciation of this fine vegetable. This compendium is a collection of rhubarb information from many sources. Some of those sources are newsgroups, some are contributed by visitors and friends, and some are from the author’s personal collection.
I have to admit that my first contact with rhubarbs was in a strawberry rhubarb pie. How could a vegetable be used in a pie, especially a strawberry one? Such was my ignorance of this fine plant, but this site corrects many myths and misconceptions about the rhubarb. The Warp-o-Meter gives this site a 7.0 rating.
