Sea & Sea’s DX-1G underwater camera mimics Ricoh’s GX-100

Filed under:

Sea & Sea’s last offering, while novel, wasn’t exactly the power-packed gizmo that serious underwater photographers could confidently take beneath the waves, but the firm’s latest device is apparently aiming to change that. The DX-1G housing and 10-megapixel 1G camera claims to be the “world’s most advanced compact underwater digital camera system to date,” and includes a 24 to 72-millimeter lens, 1/1.75-inch CCD sensor, 3x optical zoom, and a practically worthless 4x digital zoom. This wannabe DSLR also has quite a bit in common with Ricoh’s GX-100, and while it’s not noted if the underwater housing will slide right over Ricoh’s shooter, it couldn’t hurt to try. Unfortunately, it seems like you’ll be buying both to start with, which means that you’ll be laying down $1,049 for the liquid-shunning set.
