Editing Digital Photography: Software living up to its promises?

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

Capturing the perfect image is far from an easy task. There are many factors which come into play in determining how impeccable your image is from selecting the perfect backdrop, to the color tones as well as the level of exposure. It is only when the perfect symphony of all these elements is achieved that the image is at its most spectacular. But very often, we find that even a small tweak can cause dramatic changes, thus detracting from the inherent beauty of the image. And to correct these, it is not always a feasible solution to start from scratch and re-shoot the image, all over again. It is here that skillful editing comes to the rescue, enabling you to not only correct your image of its imperfections, but also to enhance your picture quality and tone which your digital camera, by itself, may not allow. But the quality of editing is also largely dependant on how effective your editing software is and also how suited it is to your needs.

A common error which most photographers make is to simply choose the first software they come across, without first considering its pros and cons. An editing tool which is the perfect blend of all the features you need, while also being appropriate to your level of skill is invaluable in determining that you achieve the best results with minimal wastage of time and efforts. However, if you find that you need to spend hours deciphering the tools and their various functions, then your software is certainly not living up to your requirements. This is because if you simply use your editing tools to simply erase a few basic blemishes from your vacation snaps, you are investing a lot more time than you need to, while also not getting your money’s worth as despite your best efforts, you may still not be able to make use of the more advanced features that your software is equipped with, simply because it was designed with another category of users in mind.

Your choice of editing software is largely governed by two basic principles: how flexible your software is and also how intuitive it is to your image and the effects you wish to create. If your field of work calls for very high quality images which need to be molded in keeping with the array of purposes they are used for, then a state of the art, Advanced Photo Editor may be just what you’re looking for. Common consensus establishes Adobe Photoshop as a forerunner in this category as it allows users a large number of features while also being a lot more reliable than its counterparts. However, this is also one of the most expensive versions of editing software and can be difficult to understand if you don’t have any former grounding in digital image editing. Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo is another, more affordable contender in this category, but does quite make it to the caliber of Photoshop. Yet, this is a worthy option if you’re on a budget and can make do with a moderate amount of flexibility.

For more basic users, who are simply looking for minor image correction and ease of use, the range of Beginner Photo Editors is just the option you are looking for. Although these editors do not encompass the advanced features which are the prerogative of their upscale contenders, they do allow you a wizard which will literally walk you through the entire process, besides several detailed tutorials you can refer to. What’s more, some of these softwares like Photoshop Elements and Ulead PhotoImpact Editing Tool also contain several on-screen tips which make the process of editing a very simple and easy to understand task.

Sometimes, even though you need all the features that are the hallmark of the more expensive softwares, but can’t afford to spend the large amounts of money that they call for, you opt for any of the Budget Photo Editors that you can download off the internet. Also, a large number of these softwares are available for free or are, at most, very reasonably priced. However, your editing process will be interrupted with numerous pop-ups that try to persuade you into buying the retail versions and also the diminished reliability of these softwares.

Once you have selected the software you intend to work with, you can further accentuate the features you are provided with, by using Digital Imaging Software. These tools contain a plethora of features which are very useful for editing your digital photographs, but will often pass on the basic painting and drawing capabilities.

It is crucial that you first establish the amount of time you will be able to dedicate to your software once you’ve purchased it. Although a software that enjoys a commendable reputation like Adobe Photoshop may be alluring, it won’t be any good if you can’t afford to devote the time and efforts that are essential to learning the finer nuances of the software. But once you’ve made your choice, and made it well, you can be sure that your images will look a lot more scintillating than they ever have before!

What is a RSS Blog Basics Internet Marketing Software Blogging

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

Welcome to my Blog RSS Basics Internet Marketing Software Blogging Tips Online Review. This is another skys the limit deals article. Click Here to visit my skys the limit deals site which has many software specials, reviews, and deals for your home or business site. What is RSS? It stands for Really Simple Syndication (RSS). It is a useful tool for saving or retaining updated information on websites that you frequently visit or websites that are your favorite. RSS utilizes an XML code which scans continuously the content or subject matter of a certain website in search for new informations then transmits the information updates by way of feeding the information to subscribers. RSS feeds are generally being utilized in blogs or news sites, though any website wanting to broadcast and publish information can use them. Once the new information is sent, it will contain a headline, a little bit of text, and either a rundown or a brief

To accept RSS feeds, a feed reader is needed, called an aggregator. Aggregators are widely and freely available on many sites online, and all that is needed is a bit of google searching, you will be able to locate a certain interface that best interest you. What’s more, RSS feeds can likewise be read and retrieved from cell phones and on PDAs. I like this feature. Once you find a website that you want to add or insert to the aggregator, the process can be done in two easy ways. Almost all sites offering an RSS feed displays an “RSS” or “XML” button in their homepage and with one click, it promptly add that particular feed to one’s aggregator. Some aggregator however, requires the need to copy and then paste the URL of the feed unto the program.

Whatever the method used for the feed, you can be certain that the feed will be accessible soon as you have inserted it, likewise, in just seconds, the next update can arrive. In the event that you do not anymore would want to accept or take in updates, you may simply delete or erase the feed from the aggregator. Through e-mail subscriptions, you can receive newsletters. RSS feeds on the other hand, can be more convenient in keeping up with newsletter updates since they are prompt and available in an instant; you no longer have to wait for a scheduled time or day to obtain a news summary; plus, these news will never be detained through a spam filter. RSS feeds are widely used everyday by individuals who understand and appreciate the accessibility of fast reports and news that can be readily read and only read certain updates that appeals to them personally.

Aggregators are the most popular of feeds, having several kinds. Web aggregators or portals as they are sometimes called, create this view which is then made available in a Web page. Also, Aggregators have been incorporated into e-mail patrons, users of desktops, or dedicated and standalone software. Offering a collection of special features, such as combining more than a few related feeds in just a single view, hiding certain entries or statements that has been already viewed, and classifying entries and feeds, the aggregator is a versatile component.

Why make a feed available? You will have more viewers, since now, your viewers can conveniently see your site without even going out and looking for that certain site. While at first, it may seem corrupt, it will in fact enhance the visibility of your site; this is so because users can easily keep up or keep tract with your site, to allow them to view in a way that they want to; it’s more probable that guests are aware should something that is in their interest is available or accessible on your site.

For instance, every month your own blog site broadcasts a new feature. Having no feed, your viewers will always have to keep in mind to go to your site in a certain time to see if they discover something new; that is, if they can remember, and if they still have the time. However, if you supply a feed for your viewers, they can just point to their aggregator and it will instantly provide them a link along with a description of happenings or events at your site immediately.

What kind of format should we choose? Syndication is very confusing as it uses a lot of formats that can usually be come across in the web. However, this can easily be solved as in general, syndicated libraries are used by aggregators which conceptualize a particular format that a feed is in, in order that they can utilize a certain syndication feed. With this, whatever format to pick is just a matter of personal preference. RSS 1.0 is far reaching, and practical should it be integrated into Semantic Web systems. RSS 2.0 is very easy and simple create by hand. And atom is an IETF Standard, does it brings constancy, stability and a natural and accepted community to support its usage. Click Hereto get software to promote your RSS blogging business.

A Survey of Educational Software

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

Computer software, as we know it today, was first used in the early 1940s. Built in 1943, the Type 19 Synthetic Radar Trainer was a flight simulator created to replicate on-board instrument data for pilots in training. This humble program would lay the groundwork for educational curriculums across the United States. The Type 19 was not only the beginning of applicable computer software, it was the precursor to the educational uses of computer programs and software worldwide.

The first educational curriculum designed for schools was the product of a joint collaboration between IBM and Stanford University. Although austere programming languages, like BASIC and LOGO, were being taught to doctoral level students as early as 1963, the 1967 release of IBM’s project was a failure. Its unreasonable cost of $10,000 was insurmountable for the school districts of the time.

The personal computer made its debut in 1975 with the release of the Altair 8800. This computer changed the opinion of educational software entirely by making the dream of computing without a massive mainframe a reality. The introduction of a computer costing approximately $2000, meant schools districts could begin to include computers and educational software into select schools. The subsequent release of the Commodore PET and the Apple II further fueled the demand for computer-based education in schools.

During the 1980s and early 1990s, the bulk of educational software programs were developed for the Apple II platform. The incorporation of superior graphics and sound quality, however, spurred a phenomenal demand for fun and appealing learning games. Additionally, the rise of the Internet in the mid 1990s opened the market to a larger amount of learning program manufacturers. Whether you owned a PC or a Macintosh, it was easy to be inundated by the sheer volume of available educational games.

The prevalence of educational software has resulted in its inclusion in nearly every grade level of learning. This software is often geared towards making education fun. Amusing characters, vivid colors, and captivating soundtracks have revolutionized these learning games. The fusion of education and fun is what makes educational software so popular. Learning simple arithmetic is now a magical quest or a ride through the cosmos, while reading and writing comprehension are used to decode sacred scrolls that zap attacking goblins. This model of learning has made learning software a seemingly enduring facet of contemporary education.

Monday, October 6th, 2008

It is an economic truth that companies that do well develop in complexity over the years, which also fuels the margin for error. It is also a modern fiscal truth that companies are finding it increasingly necessary to identify new ways to increase profits during these financially difficult times. Although the main role of a recovery audit is to recover lost profits through duplicate payments, an important consequence is its job in enhancing business practices and as a consequence assisting to lower outgoings. In the audit of businesses accounts processes, a recovery audit will also analyze why an overpayment was made and how it was allowed to be made. This is the beginning step in strengthening efficiencies in the payments chain. Increased efficiency leads to minimized costs and increased profit margins for companies.

There are a variety of factors that recovery audit software and a recovery audit can identify that contribute to duplicate payments. For most companies, it’s simply a product of huge transaction numbers and having a multitude of clients. The issues of scale mean that even a 0.1% error rate can result in thousands and even millions in lost profits for a corporation. Other issues can also be a result of recent, specific events that have occurred for the business such as quick growth or business mergers, which can lead to, for example, many systems that don’t integrate correctly and which can lead to errors. In this case, the issue is a simple one and has the distinct advantage of only needing a one-off fix in order to fix.

A recovery audit team using professional recovery audit software can also identify deeper, on-going issues that can lead to continued duplicate payments. These are regularly issues concerning a company’s business processes such as inadequate controls, unreliable communication, a lack of standardized procedures and inappropriate employee training. All of these are contributing problems to a growth in duplicate payments and will demand a workplace to reflect on its workplace culture and potentially a permanent change in normal business practice and procedures in order to address it.

Photoshop is the key to editing your photos

Sunday, October 5th, 2008

Ghosting is perfect for pictures involving subjects in motion, taken when the camera and the background is stable (not moving) and the subjects move through, around, or across the frame. I have had great success using this effect when photographing people moving about an historic site or children as they scamper over rocks. I have also used this effect for weddings and sports shoots. Example: In one wedding photograph, the groom stood still at the bottom of stone steps to an historic dwelling, his hand extended towards his bride, who slowly moved down the steps toward her groom. My six deliberate ‘clicks’ of the shutter created an airy, surreal picture of the wedding couple. Depending on the speed of the moving subjects, the shutter can be held down in rapid fire mode or each exposure can be meticulously choreographed: 1) each subject deliberately positioned in the frame, 2) one ‘click’ of the shutter, and 3) repeat steps 1 and 2 to the total number of multiple exposures you set in your camera.

Through highlighting edges of your photo, you also highlight its details. The method of unsharp mask and others like the difference of Gaussians increase the change in brightness close to each step. This technique’s standard version adds a bright halo along the bright edge of the step and a dark halo along the dark edge. Depending on what effect you’d like for your image, there are advantages in just using one or the other. Using both may not do very much to improve your image, though.

Now you may want to add a Brightness/Contrast layer. This will help get rid of any extra grain or lines that are unwanted. I used a very subtle Brightness/Contrast layer, because I didnt want it to get too bright or too contrasted. So just experiment with it until you find a nice amount. Now that we have added our Brightness/Contrast, we are ready to start making it a brush. So first I want you to desaturate it. After desaturating our fractal we want to invert it. So invert your fractal. Now that we have inverted we are going to go to Image > Adjustments > Brightness/Contrast. 1. Every fractal is different and will require different settings. 2. I want you to experiment so your learning and not just copying down numbers. Now that we added the Brightness/Contrast we are almost done with making our brush! All we have to do now is hit Ctrl - A and go to Edit > Define Brush Preset. Name the brush what ever you want, and try it out!

This tutorial is about enhancing your photos, Image enhancement is one of the most common applications of image processing. The following procedure illustrates the basic concepts of color enhancement. You’ve just taken some good photos on your camera and transferred them into your computer. Open an image you want to work on. Make a duplicate copy of your original layer, it’s always good to have the original image if things get out of hand. Name the duplicate ’sharpen’ and lock the original layer, so you can’t ruin it by mistake. Drag the original image where the arrow is pointing. Select the ’sharpen’ layer you just made and apply the ‘unsharp mask’ filter from the filter menu. Go to Image > Adjustment > Brightness/Contrast. In the example, adjust the brightness to 30 and contrast to 22. Tip: Your brightness and adjustment would depend on your image and how you want the outcome to be. Whatever suits you! Go to Image > Adjustment > Hue/Saturation (windows CTRL U). Assign values in Hue -10, Saturation 26, Lightness -6. Finished output! Hope you enjoyed doing this.

If you have tones of images to resize or you want to perform the same action the next day or so. It’s tedious to repeat these steps. Photoshop Actions allows you to record the steps you perform and re-play with one click so you don’t have to keep on doing the same thing again and again. Using Photoshop Actions: Open up an image you want to resize and bring up the Photoshop Actions panel (Windows -> Actions) At the bottom of Action panel, click on the Create New Action button.

New features in Photoshop CS2 make it easier to composite images in multiple layers. In earlier versions it was necessary to select a required layer in the Layers palette. But now it’s possible to select multiple layers by using a marquee tool. The Show Transform Controls feature allows objects to be reshaped faster than ever before, and it works across multiple layers. Smart Guides is another innovation that makes it easier to align objects, even if they’re on different layers. People who learn on their own sometimes discover the best way to do things, but usually they discover the wrong way to do things, which causes recurring frustration and limits their ability to go on learning new things. The time and money you invest today in your Photoshop training will reward you in ways that you can’t even begin to imagine.

Gradient maps can help your coloring on Photo manipulations a lot. They can be used to help blend things in and to make the colors in things the same. So you should have the same picture from the section Textures open. Okay now looking at you textures picture. You might think. My textures dont really blend in well with my face. So I am going to show you how to blend those in better using gradient maps. So I want you to decide what you want your face to look like (mainly color wise). So to make my textures blend in more I start off by going to Image> Adjustments> Gradient Map. Since I want a green picture I am going to pick a green/yellow gradient map. Then I am going to set it on soft light. After I put the opacity down a bit. Then I added a black and white gradient map. I did this because I wanted to make the picture a bit darker. I left the black and white gradient map on normal and set it on around 50% opacity. It will get rid of a bit of the color but thats what the green and yellow gradient maps were for (they were to add color so it didnt look really bland when we added the black and white one). Here is my picture after adding gradient maps.

After completing your apprenticeship, you could now start moving forward. In order to even make small but save up, you could buy items you do not have from a cooking trainer. On the other hand, once you move through more quests, you’ll get to have easy access to the items your recipes require.

Advancing

When you start out, you won’t have a lot of what you need to make more advanced recipes. Here’s a quick way to progress in skill from 1 to 375 with very little effort. You’ll need to start in Ironforge. Here, you can purchase one flour and one mild spices to make your first recipe of Spiced Bread. This is very simple and will help you advance to 40. Once you’ve done that, you’ll need to get 30 mild spices as well as some more wood. Now, get to Auberdine and find a Moonkin. Keep killing it until you have around 20 eggs or more. This will quickly take you to skill level 60.

After this, you can go down south to Ashenvale where you could find the Crawlers that drop clams. Get as many as you could and afterwards return to Ironforge. Cook up the eggs from the Moonkin and sell them. Next, you would need to look for a cooking trainer to learn more skills and eventually cook the clams you have found. At this point, your skill would have leveled up to to 130. Have with you the expert cookbook and you will surely be on your way to reaching 375.

Using Dreamweaver To Add JavaScript To Your Web Pages

Friday, October 3rd, 2008

JavaScript is a well-established scripting language which creates code that can execute both an HTML page loads and after it has loaded. It is very efficient since it can run independently on the computers of the visitors to your web site. Thus freeing up your server to do other things. It is so widely used on web sites that, though it is possible for a user to disable JavaScript within their browser settings, most people will need to leave it active if they are to interact with the sites they visit. Adobe Dreamweaver allows web developers to add JavaScript to their pages by using what it refers to as “behaviors”.

A Dreamweaver behavior is an automatically generated JavaScript function which is activated by a given user or browser action. To use behaviors, choose Window > Behaviors. Before attaching a behavior, you must highlight one of the elements on your page such as a hyperlink or image. Then you need to choose a behavior by clicking on the plus sign in the top left of the Behaviors window.

You will also need to ensure that the correct event (click, double-click etc.) is linked to the behavior. Dreamweaver will always assign an event automatically. However, if this event is not the one you actually want, just select a different event by clicking on the drop-down menu located to the right of the name of the event in the Behaviors panel.

Dreamweaver’s behaviors fall into four main categories: manipulation of images, alerts and windows, form field handling and CSS handling. To get a feel for how behaviors work, let’s take an example of a behavior in each of these categories.

There was a time when almost every website featured the rollover effect on its navigation buttons. With the development of CSS, this is no longer the case. However, the facility of having an image change appearance when the mouse passes over it is still useful. Dreamweaver achieves this effect with the “Swap Image” behavior which can either be added to an image or can be created automatically by inserting a rollover image (Insert > Image Objects > Rollover Image) rather than a static one.

In the alerts and windows category, we have Dreamweaver’s “Open Browser Window” behavior. This creates the ever-popular pop-up window. When you assign the behavior, Dreamweaver asks you to choose the HTML page you would like displayed in the window as well as the attributes you would like to add or suppress, such as scroll bars or the ability to resize the window.

The most important and useful form-handling behavior is “Validate Form”. This can be triggered either on submission of the form (”onSubmit”) or when a given text field loses focus (”onBlur”). When you assign the behavior, you choose the type of validation you wish to perform: ensuring that the field has not been left blank, contains a valid email address, contains a number or contains a number between two specific values.

Dreamweaver has a number of behaviors which can be applied manipulate the CSS attributes associated with a given page element. One such behavior is Show/Hide Elements. This enables you to make the content of an HTML element visible or hidden based on an action performed by the user. You can apply this behavior to the content of an H1, DIV, P(aragraph) basically, any element that can contain stuff.

Naturally, there is some overhead involved in using Dreamweaver’s behavior in terms of the code generated within your web page. To make your pages accessible and search engine friendly, it is recommended that you transfer JavaScript code into an external .js file and then link each of your web pages to the external JavaScript file. In Dreamweaver’s code view, highlight all of the JavaScript code between the opening and closing SCRIPT tags, then choose Cut from the Edit menu. Create an empty text file, paste in all the code and save the file with a .js file extension. Finally, in the opening SCRIPT tag on your web page type src=”myscript.js”, replacing “myscript” with the name of your file.
