Coolstreaming mediacenter is a small piece of software very similar to pplive that allows the user to stream satellite and cable TV channels on their broadband pc. Coolstreaming uses p2p (pier 2 pier) technology to do this. The person using Coolstreaming to view (downloading) the stream also uploads content at the same time. Thus many hundreds of people can watch the stream as everyone is contributing to the stream as they are watching. As one person starts to watch a channel, Coolstreaming uses the viewer’s internet connection to “forward†the stream, so they themselves then add to the Coolstreaming channels stream so the next person can watch and so on.
