pplive is a small piece of software that allows the user to watch satellite and cable TV channels on their broadband pc. pplive uses p2p (pier 2 pier) technology to do this. The person using pplive to view (downloading) the stream also uploads content at the same time. Thus many hundreds of people can watch the tv channel as everyone is contributing to the stream as they are watching. As one person starts to watch a channel, pplive uses the viewer’s internet connection to “forward†the stream, so they themselves then add to the pplive channels stream so the next person can watch and so on.
